Training and Students

St. Anne’s is well known as a specialist training establishment within the Royal Borough. We are professional partners with two universities (London Metropolitan University and Roehampton University), sixth form colleges (e.g. St. Charles Sixth Form College) and local secondary schools.

We have a well-established programme of student support and offer placements throughout the year to a range of Early Years professionals who are at various stages of their training. These include students who are training to be teachers, nursery officers and teaching assistants. We also offer opportunities for work experience placements for pupils who are considering a career in Early Years education.

In keeping with our commitment to safeguarding our children we ensure that all relevant safety checks have been carried out on our students prior to their placement with us.

In addition to this training, we also offer a wide and varied programme of support to professionals who are already in practice. Our Senior Teacher is a Foundation Stage Lead Teacher within the borough and we host several professional development sessions each term. These enable our colleagues to visit the school and spend time working on an area of particular need or interest to them. These include curriculum issues, planning and assessment, working with parents etc.

We also hold curriculum workshops each term for our colleagues. These are popular, well-attended events and evaluations reveal that participants appreciate the opportunity to observe and try out a range of creative curriculum ideas which they can then take back to their respective setting.

And lastly, we have a very good reputation both nationally and internationally and regularly welcome visitors from across the U.K. and abroad.
