Statement of Aims and Mission Statement
At St. Anne’s, we intend to:
- Promote individuality and a love of learning
- Encourage independence and the growth of self-discipline
- Foster a healthy curiosity in all areas – we want children to ask why?, when?, what for?, what if?, etc!
- Fully involve parents and carers in their children’s learning
In order to succeed as learners, we believe that young children:
- Need to feel emotionally secure within their environment and have a positive self-image
- Should be aware of the expected codes of behaviour at nursery and supported in their growing awareness of their own needs and feelings and the needs and feelings of others
- Should have access to practical, meaningful learning experiences which are presented in a play-based context
- Should be encouraged to try things for themselves and not be afraid to make mistakes
- Learn most effectively when practitioners and parents/carers work together
